Family Travel with AirTiketa: Relaxed & Well Prepared

Taking a family trip is an exciting experience. With proper planning, your flight can be smooth and enjoyable for both parents and children. AirTiketa provides clear guidelines and services to ensure your family's journey starts comfortably from day one.

Pre-Flight Checklist for Families

  • Check Passports: Every child (including infants) requires their own valid passport or ID card.
  • Reserve Seats Early: Book adjacent seats for the family during ticket reservation.
  • Use Online Check-In: Complete online check-in starting 48 hours before departure to save time at the airport.
  • Prepare Entertainment: Download audiobooks, games, movies, or digital coloring books onto your devices before boarding.

Strollers & Buggies Guidelines

Collapsible strollers and buggies weighing up to 10 kg can usually be taken up to the aircraft gate at most airports. Upon landing, they will be returned to you either directly at the aircraft steps or in the arrival terminal.
Please note local airport policies: At certain airports (such as Stuttgart Airport), strollers must be checked in at the bulky baggage counter prior to security.

If you have a connecting flight, please inform our ground staff whether you will need your stroller during your layover. Ultra-compact travel buggies ("pocket buggies") that meet cabin luggage size standards and are packed appropriately can be brought into the cabin. Stroller models over 10 kg must be checked in as regular hold baggage.

Infant Age Guidelines [INF – Under 2 Years]

  • Seating & Safety: Infants under 2 years of age travel on an adult's lap secured with an extension seatbelt, without an individual seat.
  • Capacity Limits: One infant is permitted per accompanying adult. For safety reasons, the maximum number of infants on board cannot exceed 10% of the total aircraft seating capacity.
  • Aging Up During Travel: If an infant turns 2 years old during the trip, a separate seat at the child fare must be booked for subsequent flights.
  • Accompanying Adult: Accompanying adults must be at least 18 years old (or 16 years old for immediate family members).

Child Age Guidelines [CHD – Ages 2 to 11]

  • Individual Seat: Children aged 2 to 11 travel in their own seat at discounted child rates.
  • Escort Requirement Under 5: Children under 5 years old must be accompanied by an adult traveler.
  • Group & Guardian Regulations (Ages 5 to 14): Children aged 5 to 14 traveling with an authorized adult escort (over 18 years) must present:
    • Child's birth certificate
    • Child's valid passport
    • Copy of parent/guardian passport
    • Signed written authorization from parents
One authorized escort may accompany up to 10 children.
