Accessible Travel for Passengers with Special Needs

We want your journey with AirTiketa to be as comfortable and seamless as possible. That is why we provide comprehensive support services for passengers with reduced mobility, visual or hearing impairments, and cognitive conditions.

Booking Your Flight & Requesting Assistance
Please notify us of your assistance requirements at least 48 hours prior to departure – ideally during online booking or via our customer service center. This allows us to make all necessary arrangements at the airport and on board.
Note: Depending on the nature of the limitation, safety regulations apply regarding seat selection (e.g., exit row seats are prohibited). Selected aisle seats feature movable armrests for easier access.

Guidelines for Wheelchairs and Mobility Aids

  • Safety & Accessibility: Passengers with reduced mobility (PRM) may not occupy seats that block access to emergency exits or safety equipment.
  • Seating Assignment: For enhanced safety and comfort, PRM passengers are preferably assigned seats in rows 2 through 5.
  • Capacity Limits: A maximum of 10 passengers with special needs can be carried per flight, including no more than 5 wheelchair users.
  • Medical Equipment: Stretcher transport and personal oxygen tanks are not permitted. Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POCs) with fully charged spare batteries are allowed.
  • Medical Certificate: PRM passengers must possess a valid medical certificate confirming their fitness to fly.
  • Escort Requirement: Depending on the level of assistance required, traveling with an accompanying adult may be mandatory.

Traveling with Health Conditions & MEDIF Clearance

Passengers with severe medical conditions or requiring specialized equipment must receive flight clearance via the MEDIF (Medical Information Form), filled out by an attending physician and submitted at least 3 business days before departure.

A MEDIF form is strictly required for:

  • Acute illnesses, recent accidents, or recent surgical procedures
  • Requirement of medical assistance or use of a Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) during flight
  • Need for an extra seat for medical reasons
  • Contagious diseases or infants under 7 days old
  • Specific types of orthopedic casts

Airport & Onboard Procedures

At the Airport:
Please arrive at the check-in desk at least 120 minutes before departure, even if you have completed online check-in. Personal wheelchairs marked "Delivery-at-Aircraft" can generally be used up to the gate. Please note that step-free boarding cannot be guaranteed at all destination airports.

Onboard:
Our cabin crew will happily assist you with stowing hand luggage, orientation, and accessing the onboard wheelchair (where available).
An accompanying person is mandatory if the passenger cannot comprehend safety instructions independently or requires physical assistance during an emergency evacuation.

Additional Assistance Services

Visual or Hearing Impairments:
Please register your request in advance. We provide airport assistance, individual safety briefings onboard, and direct updates in case of schedule changes. No medical certificate is required.

Cognitive Impairments:
Please carefully evaluate in advance whether an escort is needed to handle stressful situations (e.g., security checkpoints, navigating airports).

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower:
AirTiketa recognizes the Sunflower lanyard for non-visible disabilities. Wearing it signals to our staff to offer extra patience and understanding throughout your journey.

Transport Exclusions

For safety and health reasons, carriage is denied for:

  • Passengers requiring stretcher transport
  • Individuals with highly contagious diseases (e.g., Tuberculosis, COVID-19)
  • Pregnant women past the 33rd week of pregnancy
  • Persons who have recently suffered a heart attack, stroke, or major surgery without medical clearance
